The Kingdom

We are now at the Kingdom- The Kings. The book of Samuel. Israel is is transformed into a Kingdom. The  Israelite wanted a new king and asked Samuel. And he appointed Saul - their first King failed to follow God. So he was replaced by David. David was a faithful King a great King, also a Psalmist.  David did what was just and right for God’s people. His covenant was fulfilled a thousand years later when Mary would be with child and that child would be Jesus. Solomon became King after David. The nation went into war and  divided. North was Israel and South was Judah. Neither one was faithful to God. Israel had  19 kings and Judah had 20 kings.  Prophets were sent by God to warn the people.  Elijah and Elisha and prophet Isaiah are to name a few.  But it was through the prophet Jeremiah, the new covenant was promised by God. God will forgive the people.  God kept his agreement with Abraham and after 70 years they were free to go back to the promised land. Jerusalem was rebuilt and they followed God.  God was silent for 400 years.
